Macaroni penguin adoption
Penguins face many threats including climate change, overfishing and habitat degradation.
By adopting you will make a real contribution to the vital conservation work that Living Coasts does to protect these fascinating animals.
Macaroni penguins can be found on rocky slopes or level ground vegetation.
They are distributed from the Sub-Antarctic to the Antarctic Peninsula. Colonies are also located off the Southern tips of South America and Africa.
Their diet mainly consists of krill – some small fish and squid. They will often dive to depths of more than 20 meters to find food.
Although most penguins live a long way from man, they are still under threat. Many Antarctic species of penguins are threatened by climate change which is melting the polar ice. Overfishing has also reduced penguin’s food supply of fish and krill which were once abundant.
